patrol are investigating this accident, which actually turns out to be thing investigating of a shooting, which occurred here on highway 101. let's take a look at the scene earlier from sky 7hd. the incident happened around 3:40 this afternoon. witnesses and the chp said this car, a red charger, was weaving as it traveled southbound on 101 near the exit. it veered off the freeway north of the exit and crashed into the fence and bushes. they said there was at least one shooting victim in the car that also held at least one other passenger. we spoke to chp officer mark. >> there were a couple of victims that were transported to stanford. i don't know how many. and same time, due to the shooting it looks like there was a collision that occurred as a result of the shooting. >> early reports from the chp was that one victim suffered a head wound. the chp said they don't have any information as of yet who did the shooting or why. crime investigators are now on scene from the san mateo sheriff's office that will be

handling the investigation. the chp and sheriff's office are asking my motorist traveling south bound in the time and witnessed the incident to give them a call. the chp tells us that the holly street exit is going to remain closed at least until they can get this car out and are finished with the investigation here on the shoulder of southbound 101. we will have more on this shooting at abc7 news at 11. reporting live in san carlos, abc7 news. >> thank you. that shooting is causing a huge mess for drivers heading southbound on 101. in this individual row from sky 7hd, you see just how bad it was. traffic was at a standstill for about an hour before that road reopened. this is a live look right now from sky 7hd above the bay shore freeway in san carlos. as you see, it is still moving at a snail's pace out there. a huge traffic jam out there

tonight. sky 7hd arrived on the scene of more breaking news in san jose just a short time ago. a car burt into flames after it plowed into a utility pole along northbound interstate 680. that car then landed in some bushes near the capital express way exit. the flames ignited nearby trees and shrubs. a woman escaped from the car with minor injuries. the driver suffered serious injuries after being ejected from the car. the highway patrol believes he was drunk he made an unsafe turn. four of the five northbound lanes will remain closed for the next few minutes. the search continues tonight for two fishermen who disappeared after their boat capsized this morning. this is sky 7hd video of the search where two people were rescued, but two are still missing. it happened after the san mateo coast near pigeon point. we are joined live with the latest. sergio. >> we are here because one of the survivors wassilieffed to

here to samford medical center just after he got some medical attention out at that scene. the sheriff's deputies tell me is he one of four people who were on a fishing trip earlier today. deputies say the 18-foot boat they were aboard was tossed by a large wave as they were close to shore. as you see from these images from sky 7hd, the boat crashed on some rocks and came to rest upside down. a coast guard helicopter and a number of rescue boats were launched to look for the two people who remain missing in the water. teams have now started winding down their efforts. i talked with a nearby resident who said one of the survivors made it to his house to call 911. >> he was real shaken up, wet, sandy. looked out of breath. mentioned that he was on a boat that capsized. one of his friends was also able to make it to shore and was down there somewhere and two others were not. they were in the water with no life vests. >> we are doing our best. we pulled out everything we

have. the jet skis launch right off the beach. we are still searching at this time but as the time moves on and it gets colder and darker, you know, it's not in our favor. >> deputies say it took them about an hour, that survivor, to get from the beach to the nearby home to call for help. the family of those still missing was at the scene of the search, but names of those still missing have not been released. one of the survivors suffering from hypothermia was rushed to the hospital and the second survivor had possibly a broken arm and shock and taken to the hospital that the police did not have information for when i talk to them last. reporting live at samford medical center, sergio quinn taken no, abc7 news. thank you. the excessive heat watch was cancelled today but it was still pretty warm out there. less go to leigh glaserer to see what the temps are right now. leigh, it was still hot. we had a spare the air day. >> we did and we will see

another spare the air day tomorrow. let's look at live doppler 7 hd. you see most of the fog banked up near the coast yesterday has pushed off to a north, northeasterly wind component. the last 15 minutes i was able to find a little fog right here near the great highway. if you are looking out toward the ocean you are probably seeing a little bit of the fog gathering there. but it looks like it will stay well off the coast overnight tonight and tomorrow. we had a record high livermore, 100-degree heat today. the old record, 99, set back in 1957. it was 97 in santa rosa, 94 in san rafael. san francisco 84 degrees and morgan hill reached a high of 93. we will definitely have warmer temperatures tomorrow. in fact, right now livermore is still at 99. we have 73 right now in san francisco. a look ahead coming up. >> thank you very much, leigh. >> well, you won't hear that question paper or plastic anymore. beginning tomorrow at every grocery store in san francisco a

new law goes on the book at midnight. it outlaws most retailers from packing merchandise into plastic bags. customers will pay ten cents for every paper or compostable bag they use. >> san francisco just keeps getting a little more expensive it sounds like. >> people want a paper bag, it's ten cents. hopefully it's not too big of a deal for them. >> city leaders hope the new law will force consumers to be more ecofriendly and carry reusable tote bags with them on shopping trips. san francisco's existing plastic bag ban applies only to chain grocery and drug stores. the new law will cover most mom and pop stores, too, as well as the national chains. governor brown today is giving juveniles a second chance by saying no to a controversial therapy and denying children multiple parents. the governor signed a bill that will give some juvenile sentenced to life without parole a chance to earn it, but not before serving at least 15

a government agency that pledges to deliver no matter what will fail to deliver a huge payment tonight. postal service has admitted it will default on a $5.6 billion

payment for the second month in a row. the payment is due at midnight. a stunning image from the bay area is being featured in a new set of stamps. berkeley photographer barry took this image of the cargill salt bonds near the san mateo bridge back in 1983. the stamp is one of 15 earthscape stamps that go on sale tomorrow. a community rallied to save a historic mural in san francisco was held today. the mural wraps around the burnaling heights library. the san francisco library commission plans to teardown the mural and paint another one. mural painted when the community was comprised mostly of chilean immigrants features a picture of a folk singer and others. >> there was a community process that led to the development of this community mural. i feel that victor and the history of that, and the art of that should be contained and continued to be in the community. >> the activists point out it

great highway in san francisco. the great highway just kind of hugging just this area. but as the winds continue to filter to north to northeasterly, all of that will pretty much stay off the coast overnight ton. here's a look at current reading. it is hot inland, sizzling with 95 right now in antioch. 94 in livermore. concord, i know you have been in the heat all day long. 93 right now. fremont 90. 82 in oakland. 93 in san rafael. san francisco, 75 right now. it's going to be a delightful evening in the city. 85 in san jose and los gatos right now checking in at 90 degrees. we will go with clear sky overnight. less coastal fog. we still have a nice full moon out there so get out and enjoy. tomorrow will be the hottest day and we will look for cooling to take place as we head through the week. it looks like wednesday will really be the day when all of this starts to ease up a little bit. it's because of higher pressure, offshore winds, land breezes from land to the coast, the air compresses and that's why we are

heating up. it will hang on for one more day. inland temperatures still near 100 degrees, possibly over that. livermore tomorrow, here is your temperature. i'm going to 101. that record for the date tomorrow is 102. so we could possibly see another record there. livermore set a new record today of 100 degrees. redwood city will be very close tomorrow, expecting 90 degrees there. the record is 93 in san jose. the high tomorrow 94 with the record there of 97. elsewhere the records are just two hot. it will be another spare the air day tomorrow. air quality improving a bit. the north bay and south bay, moderate levels. good levels coast swell the central bay but still rather poor as you head toward the inland east bay in the santa clara valley. lows tonight with the clear sky dropping off, 50s in the north bay. mid-to low 50s. could be chilly up there. 65 for san francisco. so folks, here is a look at the highs for tomorrow.
